WebPwnApe • 2 yr. ago. They aren't armor piercing, they are steel tip penetrator. 55 grain is a higher velocity than 62gr, 55grain out of a 20" or longer barrel has the best chance of piercing armor. The 5.56 55grain is notoriously fragile, the M855 (green tip) fixes this problem by adding the steel tip penetrator.
